What's new

Another DIY shoe restoration.

So, my father was going to toss out some old shoes he had lying around.

The uppers were in sorry condition BUT the soles still had a lot of life in them.

As you can see....I had my work cut out for me! :glare:

After a little TLC....:biggrin1:

And after working my magic...

I loved the result after the cleaning, restoration, hydration, patina/cirage and finish work. They almost look like new shoes and they look uber-classy in person...especially with a nice suit. Loved them so much, I use them myself now.

The lesson here...don't be so quick to toss a pair of shoes away. You might be able to save them. :thumbup1:

Dang! That is quite the restoration. Great job. This is why I see so many decent shoes at Goodwill. Most people cant look past the fact that a shoe is a little worn. They just need a little TLC.

Damn they look good... I'm a real huge shoe nut and I would snatch those up in a second ... Care to share how u did this?

Thanks for the wonderful comments guys!

This is a side job/hobby that I have been learning over the past 2 years now. It was taught to me by a friend of the family who used to live in France and did this as a part time job working for a bespoke shoe maker. It really is an art form and it's one that takes a while to learn and get decent results.

after seeing this thread with that amazing transformation i went and got lost on google, mostly reading theshoesnob blog and watching some "masters of patina" on youtube. Totally awesome stuff.
