Sad to say, ASR, the major manufacturer of SE razor blades, is being bought by Energizer, who hopes "to boost its disposable razor business." Those of us who use SE razors have real cause for concern.

I don't think there is much cause for concern. ASR is one of the few manufactures of these type of blades for use in the Medical/ Lab industry. Someone needs to supply the needs of this industry.
Schick might sell that division off, but I can't see blade production ceasing altogether.
We might see the blades no longer sold in the likes of Walgreens though.
Some of the new Wilkinson Sword products being sold through Wal-Mart say the blades are made in the USA. Makes me wonder if the ASR plant was already making those blades on behalf of Wilkinson Sword; perhaps Schick buying ASR has been in the works for many many months.
That would be the ultimate in irony, as the loss of the contract with Wal-Mart is what caused ASR to go bankrupt in the first place.
