Allergic to ROSE creams?

I've only tried one rose scented cream, and while I love the scent, I experience burning and tingling by my third pass. Its now my wife's shaving cream.:glare: I have other scents of the same cream, and I do well with all of them, so I really think its the rose scent that's doing it to me.

Has anyone else experienced such a reaction to rose scented products? Do you think its worth trying other rose creams? Where is a good place to get samples of rose creams, to try a small amound before I buy a tub?

That is unfortunate, I have and love TOBS rose cream and in fact six of their other creams and have had no reactions. You did not mention what brand you were using, so I can't comment on that, but you might try some of the other members or vendors to see if you can get a small sample of other rose creams. I hope that you can find one that works for you.

Best of luck,

Doug

My rose cream gives me a little tingling or numbness around my upper lip, but it's not enough to keep it out of rotation.

That's a pity...which cream did you try? I've never had a problem with my rose creams, and it's quickly beating out sandalwood for my favorite scent. Of course, it could be something else in the cream, not the rose, that's causing the irritation.

TSD's store has lots of cream samples, including my favorite roses (Cyril Salter & TOBS).

I have this same reaction to Taylor Rose Shaving cream. After one pass, it feels like my face is on fire. Strangely, I am able to use a few rose scented products with no ill effects. :001_huh:

Which brand was it that gave you the reaction?

Being allergic to one rose cream will not make you allergic to all. Almost all use a rose fragrance oil (rose otto and rose absolute are extremely expensive). No two fragrance oils are the same, so being allergic to one does not mean you will be allergic to all of them.

EDIT: Shoot me a PM. I would be happy to send you a free sample of my rose cream.

Take him up on this. His QCS rose isn't my favorite rose scent, but it's definitely distinctive (a much wilder interpretation than Salter's, and way the heck wilder than TOBS, which is probably the most restrained and refined of my three), and it lathers like nobody's business. And the lather feels guuuuud...

Good info to know!
