Allen Edmonds Webgems

Hey all. I know many of you here are AE aficionados, therefore, I pose the following question to you. What is the significance of the AE webgems? What makes the shoes in this section of the site worthwhile? I’m sure it’s a simple answer, just wanted to get educated.

The Allen Edmonds Webgems are shoes that they already offer, but not in certain colors. If you see something in the Webgems section that you like, you better get them because once they're gone, they're gone. They have had several spectators that I would of loved to have if I had the money...

Yeah, they are limited runs and usually they aren't made until you order them. I think it was last year they had a "choose your own colors" version of the Neumok and a few years ago they sold designs that were part of a Project Runway contest. They can be weird or they can be unique. Personally the current ones (classic shoes in a chili burnished leather) aren't the most exciting. But I wouldn't turn one away if they showed up on my doorstep!

As the others have mentioned, webgems are a good way to get a somewhat unique shoe for that short period of time. With many (but not all) webgems you can customize your shoe (color/size) without paying the additional custom order charge (eg: if you have one larger foot you can order in 9 and 9.5 etc..). The webgems also usually come in at a bit cheaper price than the original shoe. The current chilli webgem strands are $50 cheaper than the basic strand.

I always look forward to each webgem waiting for something irresistible to pop up. If my wife had allowed I would have been all over a pair of spectators last month
