Ok, I picked up two Alba Botanica Very Emollient shave creams on sale $4.99 for an 8 oz tube (Aloe Mint and Mango Vanilla). The Mango Vanilla smells great, but the Aloe Mint smells fantastic.
You gotta try this! While this may not be my first choice of shave creams, I believe I found a great pre/post shave lotion.

This is the apply and shave kind of shave cream. No soap so it would never lather.
Love the scents and it left my face very soft. The Aloe Mint has a surprising shot of cool. It rinses easily from both SR and DE razors.
I have had better shaves from soap based lathering creams. I liked the scent and feel so much that I still wanted to keep it in my shave routine.
That's when it hit me. I read the ingredients and it had great aloes and oils. Better than many pre/post shave lotions. At less than $5 for 8 oz it's a great price.
On my next shave I applied about a pea sized amount of the Mango Vanilla to my face right after my shower, then prep'd some VDH shave cream. After my shave I applied a few dots more and rubbed it in thoroughly. This resulted in a BBS shave, and my face was baby soft and moist when I was done.
The next day I used the Aloe Mint as both a pre and post shave lotion combined with C.O. Bigelow. The chill and scent of the Aloe Mint and C.O. Bigelow combined wonderfully.
These are keepers, and they will last quite a long time.
