AIC Allegany Instrument Corp.

Does anyone have any feedback on Allegany Instrument Corp. straights? I saw one in good nick today for $10 that I could pick up tomorrow, but never heard of the maker.

The company was in business from 1920-1940 I have seen a pic of one, and it looks like a nicely made straight. If the condition is good for 10 bucks it'd be a great buy.

Allegany Instrument Corporation were manufacturers/distrubuters of precision compression instruments, surgical instruments, scales, and electronic measuring devices. How they got into selling straight razors I don't know but possibly as an offshoot of their surgical supply business. They didn't go out of business in 1940, they just became Allegany Technologies Inc. with emphasis on their electronic instruments.
I don't know if they made their own razors or had them made for them. In any event it should be a good razor. AIC had the resources and easy access to everything required to make good razors.

Thanks for the info Greybeard. I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread cause I just bought a round tip AIC off the b/s/t.
