Aftershaves you NEVER use and why?

For me Its Rose of Bulgaria. Honestly its just to floral for me. Its actually a great aftershave and has some wonderful healing ingredients in it, but I couldn't get past the scent.

Lets hear some of your horror stories gentlemen, what AS simply made you stand up and say NO!! :scared:

The Veg... because it stinks!

Bought it as a joke, don't plan on ever using it again. I'll probably PIF to a friend... most likely as a practical joke.

I have two Russian aftershaves that I'll be PIF-ing soon; Arbat, and Comme Il Faut. They both smell fine. Arbat is greasy and more like a hand lotion. I just don't like my face feeling greasy. Comme Il Faut is a gel so it dries quickly. It just doesn't seem like it does anything.

D.R. Harris Sandalwood. I know, I know. One of the best. I've read it time and again. Yet the scent has this oil/petroleum note on my skin. Reminds me of the sent of Gawith 1792. I love that smoke but am only ambivalent about the Harris a/s. I bought it a few years ago and still have about 60-65% of it left. I suspect it will last another four or five years.

Cheers, Todd

Sandlewood scents are sorta like bay rums. They all differ so much. Some swear by a certain product while others hate it. great post!

La Toja aftershave locion (splash). I loved the balms, but the splash is just kind of a "meh" scent. I bought the rather large bottle thinking it would be great and it's just "okay". I almost never use it. Also, Canoe and Pinaud Clubman..... powdery headaches in a bottle :a7: .

I smelled Tabac and wasn't a fan. It's so popular though. Maybe I'm missing something
I smelled a bottle of Tabac cologne the other day and it smelled just like English Leather to me. So, an aftershave I never use? Lustray Blue Spice. I tried it a couple of times and it made me smell like an old lady with cheap powdery perfume. I hate to even talk badly about a Lustray product because all the rest of their aftershaves are very nice.

I love the smell of Bay Rum, but not on my skin. My bottle of Pinaud Bay Rum gets sprinkled around the den as an air freshener, but I refuse to wear it.

Pinaud Clubman ASL smells great, and I like to use it as a body splash cologne in the hot summer months. But on my face, no, never.

Sadly, Pinaud Clubman (ducks). Too powdery for me. In general, i love barber shop scents but do not like them to persist outside of the shave den.

Avon stuff. I grew up with a lot of Avon stuff from the frog soap dish to the various soaps on a rope etc, so I like the idea of buying some of the thousands of NOS products out there. But man the aftershaves are horrid! Some smell alright, and are decent representatives of legendary brands. But they have no comforting aspect - just burn. I do have a bottle which I'll try adding glycerine to but the collectors can have the others out there.

Skin Bracer original green. Smells nice in the bottle, but it gives me a sick headache when in use.
On the other hand, Skin Bracer Cool Spice is my favorite AS, and works great on me.

Old Spice. It seems to have a very weak scent. I wouldn't say I'd never use it. I would say that I'd never spend the money to buy some. If someone offered it to me and I didn't have any aftershave, I'd have no problem using it.

I'll have to duck, too...it seems I don't care for Clubman. Just picked up a bottle last week because it caught my eye in Walgreen's, and when I splashed a little on I realized that an old dude I used to work with (in a bad sales job) used Clubman almost as heavily as he used Marlboros. Granted, the Clubman on me, without the cigarette stink, wasn't terrible, but it's a bad association

Veg, Special Reserve, and Speick. Don't care for the scent at all. Found the Speick to be rather disappointing because it gets so much love here.

bummer about the speick! I've heard the reserve smells just like an old baseball glove. I've yet to try it, but doesn't sound to great
