Aftershave of the Year - 2009

Gent's, what is your Aftershave of the year?

Have you found something esoteric this year that has been extraordinary?

Something new to your cabinet?

Possibly an AS you've had for years that has found surprisingly more use this year than years previous?

I've used over 12oz of Ogallala BR Limes & Peppercorns this year. I think that qualifies.

I have honestly developed an unhealthy relationship with Trumper's Spanish Leather A/S. (Hey, the first step is admitting the problem, right?!)

I use ASB more than splashes and have found one moisturizer which works better at soothing than any ASB I've ever used. It's the Sandalwood Moisturizer by Better Botanicals. As soon as I put it on, I can feel the difference in my skin

I got some Italian Floid and wasn't sure about the scent. I'm sensitive to scents (I get migraines) so a lot of scents give me problems. My first reaction was that I thought it was too strong. I got used to it right away, though, and I've come to really love the scent and performance - a real menthol blast

I then ordered some Spanish Floid decants from Superlather. They're pretty nice as well - a sweeter fragrance than the Italian version. I ordered a 75ml bottle of the Spanish Vigoroso from the Dutch Shaving Shop and I'm anxiously waiting its arrival.

The bottom line is that the Floids are great, but hard to source, of course. They're relatively expensive for us here in the US. If I were totally honest with myself, I think they're overpriced, but they are nice products. I understand why vendors sell them at a high price - I'm sure they're not easy to obtain.

Such a difficult question. I love all my aftershave children. But if they are all hanging off a cliff, and I can only save one...Pinaud Lilac Vegetal! There, I said it.

Speick. I finally got around to ordering some this year, don't know why it took me so long to get. I've used the shaving cream for a few years. Anyway, its the King. When I reach for an alcohol based a/s, Speick is it. It has supplanted my long time go to, Skin Bracer. Nothing I've ever used works as well for relieving irritation as Speick does. It leaves my face feeling great. :thumbup1:

Denim Original aftershave. It used to be a very common aftershave in the Netherlands in the 1980's, it is what my father used daily back in those days. Nowadays it is hard to find. I managed to buy two bottles online. For me this is the AS of the year.

Recently I discovered Mennen Green Tonic (must be what you Americans used to call Skin Bracer Dry Lime back in the day). It's readily available around these parts but somehow the limey smell kept me away from it all this time (not much of a lime-scented AS/EdC fan). I finally decided to give it a try and I don't regret it: it has now earned a high place in my rotation!
