What's new

Advice, Insight, Suggestions, and Help.

I haven't been around for the last year or so; but I used to be a contributing member =D some of you may even remember me! =D

I'm getting ready to start my second rescaling project, and I need some help, and advice. Here is a link to my fist attempt at rescaling a razor:

This time I will be using a GORGEOUS Sapele wood, with a beautiful grain pattern. For those of you not familiar with Sapele, its in the African Mahogany family, and my piece was sent here straight from Africa. The wood is prized for it's grain patterns and warmth. Here are some Google pics of Sapele Wood.

My goals for this project are to:

- Take my time, and make it perfect
- Shape the scales identically
- Use the 1/16th brass rods this time
- Fully restore the blade's shine before pinning the razor
- Use no stain. Just a healthy 6-8 coats of urethane

A) By looking back at my old pics, and comparing them to my list of goals what else should I include?

B) What did you like/dislike from my last project

C) I need someone to hone my new razor after I get it scaled. Anyone in Ontario willing to professionally hone it? I'll pay you of course.

MANY PICS TO COME!

I didn't do much restorations except sanding blades so I wouldn't be able to give a good advice for question A...

B) I think more pictures of the blade would be required. I don't like big pins sticking out of the scales. The wood looked great!

C) I don't know any honemeister in Ontario but here's the complete list: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Honemeister

Hope this helps
