What's new

Adopting a new badger.

I've come to that conclusion that I "need" another brush.
I got a Muhle Classic silvertip (23mm (main brush)), a Vulfix 1000A (travel brush), a cheap boar of some kind, and an old Gillette syntetic.

I'm thinking of getting a Kent BK4, but I'm not sure if I want this just because of the name, is the Kent brushes as good as they are claimed to be, or is there other brushes I should consider aswell?

What is the advice/experience around here?

I maybe should metion that I'm a soap user, I only got one cream that I rarely use.

I'd recommend getting a 24mm TGN Finest (xtra hair bulb or fan, both good) in a custom handle. You can always ask the crafter what loft he'd recommend. I tend to like mid-high 40's on the finests. That or go for a quality boar with the Semogue 1470 or SOC.

Thanks for the advice.
Do you know where I can find more info and buy them?

Found the TGN website, and will abolutely take it to consideration.

But I would also like to hear if there are other brands I should consider before I settle my mind?

Everyone should have a Simpson's brush, or even a few. Many regard them as being quite simply the best. The Chubby CH2 certainly has a huge number of admirers. And they are amongst the very few brushes now made that actually have a knot that is hand made in the West. Virtually everyone else (including most big names) use Chinese made knots.

With over 20 basic models, most made in different sizes and with different grades of hair, there are well over 100 Simpson's models to choose from. You must be able to find your perfect brush out of that lot.

Got two new brushes this weekend, one Muhle boar, actually quite nice, much better than expected (bought it because I forgot to bring my travel brush), and Kent BK2. Looked at the BK4 too, but I found the BK2 a bit stiffer and probably better with soaps, it lathers great, a little stiff to the face, but I reccon it wil get softer after some use.

I'm also thinking of getting a Simpson, and something with a TGN knot, but that will have to wait a little if I'm gonna have a wife to come home to.
