I found the perfect tool for removing the bottom cap on an adjustable. It was literally right under my nose. Take a guess at what it was (remember, this is a shaving forum)

Have you tried this? Does that work better? And I assume you use the non-threaded side...

I did try it, threaded side down. Worked great. No fiddling around trying to find the right sized socket.

Brilliant. I've had little luck with the sockets. I bent a cap beating the heck out of it. My grungy old types just started sweating a little bit...
