adding menthol crystals to non menthol AS

I found a new(been around a long time) AS from Masters called Champagne. Really fine stuff to my nose and SWMBO likes it as well. Here is the Texas heat menthol is nearly mandatory. Can anyone suggest how much menthol crystals to add to a pint of fluid? Is it just experiment? Thanks to all.

For me it was just experimentation. I added quite a bit to my Topaz and it worked out fine. Then again, for me there's no such thing as too much menthol.
Maybe add a couple of nice size crystals, give them a few minutes to dissolve and then test it out. Add more crystals as needed if it doesn't have enough kick.

I dissolve a lot of crystals in a small dropper bottle with some alcohol based witch hazel. I then add it in to my non-alcohol thayers witch hazel at a rate of 10% and this gives me great cooling.
I use it summer and winter, I love the freeze after my shave as its so refreshing and invigorating.

Much less than you would think at first. You can always add more, but you can't take it out!:001_cool: In a 100ml AS bottle, I would add a small crushed pile about the size of a dime and it's a NICE kick.

I have been adding menthol in the form of 444 ASB. Lets you kind of adjust the amount of menthol on a per application basis. Works great with everything I have mixed it with so far. I really like adding it to Nivea Replenishing and Proraso liquid cream.

I really wanted to like the 444, but it always left my face a bit sticky feeling, regardless of the amount used. I always found it cost more to ship than the balm itself cost. If you are looking to buy multiple tubes of it, then it can be pretty cost effective. The nice thing about the menthol crystals is that all you get is more menthol kick and nothing else (even the sparse ingredients in 444). I checked it out when I got hooked on 4711. Love the scent and the feeling of my face after using it, but alas, no menthol. Blammo...problem solved.
