I'm a respiratory therapist, and see daily the effects of lung diseases and damage. I quit smoking after seeing the effects of COPD/emphysema, and whenever I get a hankerin' for a cig, I just think about the look in the eyes of a person having an exacerbation. Hold your breath for as long as you can, and then when you've got that freak-out feeling going on, breath through a straw that you're pinching the end shut on. So, my vote goes for:

breathing
