A Recent Restoration

I recently restored this Red Injun for a friend with Padauk Scales and a bone wedge. The blade had terrible pitting, mostly towards the toe of the blade (unfortunately I did not take a before picture). Since he would not let me make a shorty out of it, I did what I could and think it came out pretty well, all things considered.

Very nice. You're a good friend. Love seeing these vintage restores. I wonder if some day someone will restore our restores?

Ha ha! I only hope when our restores are ready to be restored, that there will still be people using straights!

Have you already honed it? Looks to have a frown between the stabilizer and middle of the blade. Nice scales!

Good eye! It certainly does have a frown just in front of the stabilizer. I started to remove it, but it was not being very cooperative, so I honed it up and since it didn't interfere with anything, I kept it that way. In hind sight, I probably should've removed it, but I was in a bit of a time crunch and had already done a lot of work to straighten the rest of the edge which was a wavy mess.

Nice save, but that heel will need correcting that corner will cut you.
Nice work, great shavers. I really like that width blade, like driving a sports car.

Nice scales, love the grain on that wood.
Good work on the steel too, I would think it best to do something with the heel but if its shaving fine then perhaps it's best left alone.
