a question on a 7 day set i found. i need some input before i actually buy it.

ok i found this and the guy is asking 165 for it which is about 24 bucks per blade. they all look good no bad hone wear, but some of the scales have some of the red missing. the razor shown is one of the better looking ones as far as color goes. all i know is that they are solingen and on each blade they say souvenir of (seven different cities in germany) basically each blade has a different city on it. i know the picture isnt that great but i could use ur guys help before before i break down and get ths awesome set that i would love to have.

so the question is...... is it too much???? would i be over paying if i bought it?

There are people a lot more educated than me about the value of these 7 day sets but if it was me and I had the cash to spend I would be all over that like white on rice. No question about it.

The knurling on the shank. Lesser razors tend to only have them on the bottom of the shank.

Those sets where sold mostly in souvenir shops for the tourists and as such are not of the best quality. At that price it's still a good buy however. Hope you like them and they shave well.

make sure you send that set to someone that can hone them up for you...someone that is versed in straight razor honing and not any old knife sharpener, okay? Even if the eges were shave ready when placed into that box way back when, the edges are sure to have micro chips that need to be removed and replaced with a fresh shave ready edge

rarely are NOS razors treated with oil and put up with the *right* protectant on them to survive decades of storage...a fresh honing is the only answer 99% of the time

i agree these were made for tourists, not best quality. BUT,, if they can take an edge at all?? it will be a good buy at that price. i believe they will. i believe they will be as good a shaver as many sub standard brands out there. they are still solingen razors. and even if he changes his mind? breaking even will not be a problem.
