Over on Pipe Smokers Forums, a fellow pointed out a Dr. Grabow Riviera that was selling for a bargain price on ebay. After looking at the listing, I wasn't sure it was such a bargain! According to the seller, "It is a nice little pipe which is broken-in, ready to smoke, and with patina from tapping ash out yet no cracks." You be the judge.
After a good alcohol soak and some elbow grease with wet/dry sandpaper, some waxing and buffing, a resurrected pipe. It isn't perfect and I learned a lot on my first go at a restoration. All in, less than $10.00. Oh, it smokes well too!
