What's new

a mystery hone :D

Hi all !

I found a hone online and bought it for 10 euro, i have no idea if it will be useable for razor but it seems pretty smooth. Its was dug up at some kind of archeology dig or something :001_smile.
I made some before pictures and pictures after i gave it a good wash and scrub (wet pics).

Looks like a natural combination coticule that came out of a paddle.

Cool stone. Lap it and give it a go :)
What kind of archeology dig did it come from? it would be awesome if you knew where and when it is from.

Looks a lot like a charnley forest I have. Is that a bit of red in the stone or just my monitor?

The lapping will tell you a lot.

My guess what be a Coti, appears the same like my old Cheetah here on the right ;-) could be a remaining Belgian Blue Backing....

The lapped pics are then the most interesting...

It was concave (I can tell from pics), he hasn't lapped it yet in any of the pics (Says he's going to lap it in his most recent post).

yeah i started to lap it but stopped for a bit because its a pain to lap op wet and dry sand paper but it looks like the one on the right. Its hollowed out pretty bad :) im going to make a dry and a wet pic as we speak post it in a couple of minutes !

Dry pic (still needs more lapping)
