A Micromatic Epiphany

Tried round #2 with the Gem this evening, preparing for church function.

I managed to come closer to BBS than ever before! I have pesky areas to either side of my adams apple with swirly grain, still trying to figure those out. Nearly DFS in the problem spots, so I'm quite happy!

just felt like sharing.

Also tried my New Ogalla Bay Rum with Lime and Peppercorns, I really like it and it is SWMBO approved!

I'll second the Clog Pruf recommendation. One of my top 3 razors! Not the prettiest razor...but solid and it just does a superior job on my beard.

I still need to try my Clog-Pruf Micromatic. But first I need to buy some proper SE blades.

Anyone have any recommendations?

The PAL Carbon Blue Steel blades give a great, smooth, long lasting shaves, but unless you wipe them down in alcohol they tend to rust quickly. I can't get more than two shaves out of them. The "Blue Star" blades, are imo, the Chevy Vega's of the SE world; I think they start rusting en route home.

The Stainless Steel blades made by GEM (ASR) are very, very, good and I can normally get six shaves out of them easily, with the record being 15. We have had group buys in the past for these blades, and if you can get them shipped to work, you may be able to order from Ted Pella, http://www.tedpella.com/dissect_html/dissect.htm#anchor1623602

I'm one of the people that believes the MicroMatic series is the epitome of razor design and technology; that the decline and fall of Western Civilization will one day be marked by the date the manufacture of these razors was discontinued by ASR. On that day, marketing trumped engineering and design. The MicroMatic is not ugly, it is a beautiful Art Deco design years ahead of its competitors.

Good Luck!
