What's new

A History Lesson/Amazing colection and stories told (pic heavy)

I decided to take a little detour today from my usual rounds on my day off, so I stopped by a friends' place of business. It just so happened that he set up his little upholstery shop next to one of the oldest barber shops in my little town of Wiggins.

Well I pulled up there and below and behold what do my wondering eyes see? I was the owner of the little shop and he was unloading a collection of shaving equipment that would make a man weak to his knees. He had over 100 years of shaving history under glass. I was held in awe. I was able to pick his brain about some wonderful little DE strops and some automatic str8 razor stops, he had 3 or 4 Rolls there, one of which was in very good condition. I had to pry myself away from him so he could pay the man that hauled the collection to his barber shop. I could have stayed there and talked to him all day.

I took a few pics. I hope they are to y'all s liking. Enjoy :biggrin1:

My Father gave me a brand new Gilette Techmatic in 1973, which you can just see to the top right in the second photo above (the first batch, obviously). Brings back a lot of memories. I used that thing for about 5 years. I must be getting old.

 I want a YAWNMOWER!

That's what caught my eye, too. Very nice collection. Thanks for sharing. My barber here in VA has a similar display case, though the collection isn't as impressive. Nonetheless, I somehow knew when I walked in the door that I'd found a winner.
