A Great Shave for a Wedding

You gentlemen seem to like hearing about someone's experience of a great shave, so here is mine.

This wasn't my wedding, but my brother's and I was Best Man. My main duty was of course the speech and I was exceedingly nervous about it. Staying at my folks I had been deciding what shaving kit to take with me and settled on the following:

English Gillette Tech
Feather blade
Tweezerman brush
Mr Taylor cream
Menthol balm
Old Spice A/S

I haven't used Mr Taylor much recently so the scent when I was working up my lather was a very pleasant rediscovery. Took a good 30 minutes after showering to shave (thankfully no one else needed in after me) and did my usual 3 and a half passes. The Tech is a marvellously forgiving razor even when loaded with Feathers. And wouldn't you know, as I went to it my hand stopped trembling and as I finished off, I felt far, far more relaxed than before. No cuts, nicks, weepers or irritation or any stray bits of stubble to annoy me for the rest of the day.

Wedding went to plan, my brother is now safely married off, my speech went down a storm and I got complimented several times during the day on my aftershave. (Gotta love the Old Spice. Nothing else I've ever used is as nice or as lasting.)

Never underestimate the relaxation properties of a good shave!

Or perhaps the drop of fine malt whisky I was offered before my speech might have had something to do with it as well? :001_tongu

Congrats on a good shave and congrats on your brother's wedding! It's always nice to be able to take your time when you shave.

My oldest brother was married in July. He bought a bottle of 12 year aged Macallan just for me. It was a good reception!

Well done, nothing better than a good shave to start off a wonderful day. Your Tech/Feather combo is a great set up to get a good shave without much risk of collateral damage.
