A Gem in the wild

I guess it probably isn't that uncommon. I picked up a 1912 from an antique store for $12. The case is falling apart, but the razor looks to be in good condition under the dried shaving cream on it. It came with a Damaskeene blade holder with 6 new STAR Super Edge Razor Blades in it. Would it be worth trying them out or should I just get some new GEM blades?

Is there any way to tell how old this is?
I can't wait to get this cleaned up and try it out. I've read great things about the 1912 here.

Try the GEM Personna Stainless Steel Blades from Walgreens to get started,they're sharp and don't rust....
