I ordered a Super Silvertip 24x67mm knot and a 24mm number 2, ivory colored handle from The Golden Nib. I thought I'd try my hand at making a brush.
Here are the supplies:
That is 5 minute epoxy.
I cleaned and scored the inside of the handle and the base of the knot to promote better adhesion.
I then mixed the epoxy, spread some in the handle and on the base of the knot. I inserted the knot and twisted it to get good contact between the epoxy and all surfaces. Now it is a matter of letting it cure. It looks good. I did not deepen the hole, and the loft, as it is now, is about 58mm. From start to finish, this took about fifteen minutes, and couldn't have been simpler.
I'll let you know more as I get to use it.
