7 O'clock Razor

I have purchased a vintage 7 oclock open comb razor in good used condition, I suppose for around 1930s or 1940s it's very nice.

I just had my first shave with it......

I have been using a Razorock. 68 and thought it the dogs do da's so much so I left this forum proclaiming I had discovered shaving nirvana.

I was talking out my a**e the 7 Oclock gave me a very close shave, no nicks irritation or feeling like I might get cut.

I used a new Gillette Silver Blue and Prorasso green.

I love the Razorock but it's been cleaned and put in a drawer.

Someone talked about getting one in another post so I revisited my Gillette version With a permasharp.

More aggressive than the raised flat bottom variant and very smooth and efficient. the right blade plays a big role with open combs. Found what works for me and pretty happy.

I bought the Razorock gamechanger and Lupo, they just dont hold a candle to some of these vintage Gillettes (the slants are a different story).

Agree, I loved my RazoRock GC but the 7 oclock is so much better, I use GSB in mine.
There is something satisfying about using vintage razors too.

Great thread!! Tough to beat those old Gillettes!! :a29::a29:
I love mine, as much as I liked my RR GC.68 it didn't have the feel and shave quality of the 7 o'clock.
Perhaps in 90 years time some old git will be proclaiming how great the RR GC .68 is compared to the latest gear

...... or perhaps they will be using an old school Gillette

Let's hope

Here's a very early reminder for you 7o'clock razor fans:

7 O'CLOCK WEEK is held annually (usually in the last week of August) and was started by @ivan_101. (As it includes 7o'clock blades, it's held in the Safety Razor Blades sub-forum.)

Here's one of my posts from the 2022 thread:

7 O'CLOCK WEEK (2022) SOTD
1933-SOTD-O_2022-08-22.jpg
:001_wub:

Brush: Shavemac 20/46 Silvertip 2-Band
Soap: Phoenix Scentsless
Razor: 1933 7o'clock FBOC GT
Blade: Gillette 7o'clock Black (1)
ASL: Pashana American Bay Rum

An excellent shave.
The 7o'clocks make a great team (for me).

I hadn't realized that I'd used my last Black, so I purchased a whole new 10-pack* (versus the old five [or seven] pack). My new 10-pack says "Packed 06/20" on the back.

* Last of the BIG SPENDERS. :wink2:

Happy shaves guys. :cornut:

Cal, buddy, thanks for mentioning my humble efforts. I just want to add the 7 o'clock week is not only about the blades. You can use a 7 O'Clock razor with a blade of any other brand.
