620: one week in thoughts and a bloom pic

$620 bloom.jpg

Quick update on this crazy little 620 that was picked up as a "back-up" to a CH1 but has become my go-to brush for the last week since landing at the doorstep. I'm really enjoying the face-feel and its lathering capability, you can't see the tips but there are quite a few hairs splitting 2-3 ways. Have had to learn to load it heavy as it was barely holding enough lather for a 2 pass (but it's not a big deal as the soap is right there and I just reload anyway). And as well as performance it's just a sweet looking brush too IMHO.

As a first "real" boar (as opposed to an El Cheapo I had) it's really opened my eyes to the qualities of a decent brush of this sort; so much so that the Chubby is getting no love at the moment.

I always mistakenly thought 'why bother with non-badger brushes'? I have now come to realize the virtues of boar and horse hair brushes. The 620 is one of my favorites as well - it massacres any soap into a vicious swirl of lather!

Hey Ravi,

is that an 830 and a 610 alongside the 620? Would love your thoughts on those - similarities/differences to the 620.

Cheers

I have the 610/620 and 820/830 - the 820 is not visible in the picture. The 600s have a lower loft height compared to the 800s, so they seem to be less 'floppy'. I am a face latherer, and although one might think the 600s are better in this respect, I have no difficulties using either. In my opinion, there is no appreciable performance difference between the bleach blonde and banded varieties - they vary in terms of appearance only. It's nice to have several of these boar brushes, because they do take longer to dry compared to badger or horse hair brushes. I use all 4 frequently! :biggrin1:

Agreed entirely Agravic, the 610/620 and 820 (I don't have the 830) are great brushes, good value and real performers. I rotate my along with an Omega 10067, Omega #36, a Vie Long 13061S Horse and a RV Short loft badger and I really have no problems with all those boars as well as the lone horse & badger.

So guys - taking my love of shorter loft brushes into consideration what would you recommend as a Semogue next step/something a little different but still boar to the 620?
