What's new

55$ for a 100ml After-Shave balm???

Well, I was just passing by my local pharmacy and what caught my eyes is a new line for shaving I haven't seen before at the store. So I browse through the different products and what I noticed at first was the absence of any price tags.

So I take a creme jar, and an after-shave balm with me to the cash register and when the total came out, it was 100$ for both items!!!

Apparently the Aftershave is 55$ (100ml) and the creme is 35$! What is this craziness all about? the brand was the ZIRH brand, the first time I see it anywhere.

Is the recent emergence of wet shaving and men grooming getting us all screwed?? This is really ridiculous.

Zirh has been around for a while, and has been, well, expensive, for a while. That's not to say that other items aren't equally expensive -- $55 for 100ml of ASB is high, but not an outlier. In Zirh's case, I wouldn't confidently say that you get what you pay for, just based on comments here on B&B.

To be honest, I was outraged at the store when I seen the prices but a subconscious part of me was saying "hey if it is THAT expensive then it must be good".

Glad I listened to my wife instead :)

I'm glad you listened to your wife, too. That store is grossly overcharging. Zirh's asb goes for $32.50 retail; their shaving cream jar retails at $22.50. That store is putting Zirh's pricing in Castle Forbes and Santa Maria Novella territory, which is absurd.

They must be using last year's canadian dollar conversion rate or something, or probably the MSRP is a lot higher in Canada than in the US.

So I am guessing it is not worth it, even at the 32.50US?
