2-Fer Clinic

2-Fer, you say? And just what the heck is a 2-Fer Clinic?

It would be a two for one clinic. A clinic, not in the medical sense, but in the workshop sense. I have contacted my bud and talked him into coming to my house to help out with some quality instruction.

I would provide some hands-on instruction on razor restoration/manufacture and scale-making while he would provide some always needed tips on honing and general straight razor information.

It would be an entire day spent in my shop where you could actually see stuff done instead of just reading about it. This would be an invitation thing offered to about 10 people for a nominal fee to cover the expense of a few materials and maybe some catered lunch. A few of you may even find some time to make your own set of scales...

The only problem I see is that this is such short notice. It would have to be done before the middle of June when it gets so hot here, nobody in their right mind would want to be sweating their butt off in a workshop. Basically, I'm saying this needs to be done in the next 2,3,4 weeks.

To give an idea of distance, I am about 3 hours from Sacramento, 4 hours from LA, and 6 hours from either Reno or San Diego. If you want to google, I'm in Sanger, California with the main cross streets being Bethel and North.

If there is any interest, let me know here or in a PM. Oh... the other person who will be here to help ~ Joel. How cool is that?

Oh man that is so cool!

I think the west coast people will jump all over this! Can somebody who goes to this please video tape the manufacture part? I'm dying to see it!

Boy howdy!
I am out of skool for the semester after next week, all I need is a week(preferably two) to get the day off

Probably no chance of a door prize is there?

:w00t:

In other words, count me in!

And if there is anyone else in Los Angeles that is interested in going send me a PM

These things for knife makers are usually over a thousand dollars. While my portion of thing is worth about $1 on a good day, Bill's knowledge, expertise and instruction is absolutely priceless. I learned more in Bill's shop in a few hours, than I've learned in 8 years on these forums.

It's short notice and Bill lives in the middle of freakin' nowhere (I doubt we have many interested members in his city) but I don't think there is a single fella on earth who can build a razor with more detailed execution than Bill Ellis. Certainly, there isn't a custom razor maker out there that hasn't learned from Bill's techniques, or been inspired by his work. Bottom line, you ain't gonna find a better source to learn from than Bill, and you'll have a fun time.

P.S. - if you don't like Bud Light Lime... pretend you do.

I can't believe more people haven't posted about this yet. If I wasn't on the other side of the country, I would have been all over this and this thread would be on page 3.

If possible, Joel has made me feel even worse about not being able to take advantage of this workshop. Ah well, this too shall pass.

Bud Light Lime is like soda!

I want to go, and have given my manager a heads up that I will be needing a day off soon. I just need to know which one now.

Looks like June 6th fellas. I'll need $50 from you to cover incidentals like materials, electricity, chow, some minor door prizes and my autograph. :w00t:

If any of you are coming in from out of state, I'll come pick you up at the airport. I can also let you know places to stay if you are considering this option.

Joel said he'd film some of the stuff to share for later. For those of you coming, don't forget to bring your show and tell stuff.

Hey Bill, why dont you come to Canada, and we'll give you some real beer

j/k, I like Bud just fine, and I love lime, just have never tried the both together
