I tried to breath some new life into a couple of brushes I've had laying around. The first was a Burt's Bees ceramic handle with a boar bristle knot. I was able to remove the knot simply by boiling it for a few seconds. The second was an Ever-Ready flea market find that had a truly gnarly looking knot of unidentified composition. It had to be cut off and drilled out with a 3/4 forstner bit and finished up with a Dremel sanding drum. Both received a 22mm silvertip grade A knot from Golden Nib.
Tony at Golden Nib is a class act. He sent me two knots instead of one by mistake and when I offered to return one of them he refused to take it back. Thanks Tony!!! Let me know what you think of the restoration attempt.
