1966 GILLETTE TTO DE Flare Tip Safety Razor

I picked this up of ebay to start shaving with. When I put the blade in and close the doors the blade is flat. If I tighten the flare tip all the way up the blade bends ther by reducing the blade edge exposed area.

My Question... should I tighten the flare tip all the way so the blade is bent or just close the doors and leave the blade flat?

I tighten it all the way. I've heard that some folks might loosen a teensy bit to get a more aggressive profile, though. I shaved with this razor this morning, and it shaves just fine all tightened up. The blade is supposed to be bent.

It's fine. The blade is supposed to bend. I clamp mine all the way down just to make sure the blade doesn't shift around during shaving.
