1940s Style Super Speeds

I'd like to find a 1948 (birth year) super speed with case, but it appears that there is no easy way to differentiate 1947 from 1948 from 1949 with these razors (except that 1947-48 ones came in a cardboard box). Does anyone know a way to do that, to make sure that what I'm getting - when I make an offer here or elsewhere - is really a 1948? Thanks.

The 48 and 49 razors are the same but in different sets. The 1948 Super-Speed was the first Super-Speed with notches and comes in a cardboard. The 1949 Super-Speed comes in a red styrene case.

The notches are at the ends of the center bar. They help in inserting the blade into the razor from the dispenser.

As shown here.

The original 1949-50 red styrene case is the one without the side grooves, which were added later ('51?) to fit into the cardboard countertop merchandise display. Quite often we find the newer-style cases with the '48-'49 razors in them.

It's pretty easy to differentiate between the 1947 and later Super Speeds once you know what to look for. A good writeup on the Super Speeds is here.

Thanks for that, I never knew that. And here are the examples:
