1936 Silver Plated British Open Comb Aristocrat Set

I recently acquired a 1936 silver plated British Aristocrat that can be seen in Achim's site. I received the razor recently and got around to cleaning it up today. As is common to silver plated razors, the razor had a lot of tarnish that went away with just one soak using the aluminum foil / baking soda / hot water process.

Razor, case interior & price insert. The silver plating on this razor is perfect and worked out to a brilliant shine with just one soak and no polishing at all:

I never imagined that a silver plated aristocrat could look as beautiful as its rhodium plated relatives, but they do hold their own against their rhodium plated cousins when it comes to appearance, class & finesse. The 1936 silver plated open comb Aristocrat (left) and its rhodium plated #21 aristocrat cousin (right) side by side:

The nickel plated case (that has not been cleaned up yet) and the silver plated aristocrat:

There is one difference between my set and Achim's set though: the notch on the base plate in my razor is different than in Achim's sets and is exactly like in this post on another thread started by elmerwood. I do not know if there was any conclusion on elmerwood's set but here is mine with the unique base plate!
You certainly seem determined to corner the razor market as of late.
Seriously...knock it off!

Nice catch though

Nice razor!!

thekinge, looking supberb there my good fellow.

You better belive it, it was my holy grail razor. I got one from a poplar auction site and have very rarley put it down since December 20th 2013 (or there abouts) it shaves like a dream with almost any blade, any soap, croap or cream. Brilliant.

Looking good, there. :thumbup1:

Thanks and I'm still picking up on the trail that was blazed many moons ago by you, Achim, Jake and Mark!:001_cool:

what is this process?

ras120 answered it for you and I agree fully with the charm part! It's incredible to watch such blackened razors transform within minutes into beautiful silver. While doing it, one would feel as if though they were an alchemist transforming raw earthern metal into beautiful silver; it's that dramatic a transition.

how much we have to pay for such a beautiful razor =) i think it is priceless
atm it seems to be that you are the NOS king

Thank you, but this is not a NOS set since there was soap scum in the razor. But it appears to have been used very sparingly and well cared for.

Thanks Stu. And I do believe that you're in love with your #15!

Beautiful set. Congratulations on another great set for your collection.

The King (of eBay?) does it again - nice work mate :)

Thanks! Mark, yes another ebay score.
