1912 Ever Ready, Pretty good shaver

I bought it on the bay a few months ago for 5 bucks, got some blades from CVS and was stoked to try it. My first attempt was a miserable failure. It felt like I was trying to shave with a rusty pocket knife. I set it aside and kept going with my DEs.

Recently I started trying different blades for my DE razors. The whole YMMV thing really comes into play with razor blades. I found that I get a rough first shave with most blades.

Because of this, I thought to give the ol' Ever Ready another shot. I turned it into a good old fashoned themed shave. Face lathered a puck of Williams I turned into a stick (yes it actually works for me). My once used Gem Blade worked wonders, tons of feedback. It is certianly not a one pass shaver, but after a with the grain pass and one across the grain pass I wound up with a DFS. Finished it off with a big splash of Captians Choice Bay Rum.

This will be my regular saturday shaver for a while.

I have one I also got from the bay and I am waiting for blades to arrive now. Whilst I don't have a box, it has cleaned up magnificently and is a pleasure just to own.

Cool to see it worked out for you.The 1912 Ever-Ready was my first SE Razor, can't remember how long ago I got it but I haven't shaved with a double edge since that first SE shave.Keep using it and perfecting your shaving angle and you won't believe how good it it'll get.
