Definitely a great product, one of the best, if not the best.

Yet you have to mention that it was a lot cheaper once, because the price almost doubled when this was introduced to the U.S. market. It was rumored that the producers thought the american customers would not accept this as a top notch product, if it cost only 5-6$.

In Germany you have to pay more (appr. 10.50€) than the British (appr. 6.50, that's only 7.87€!) or the Americans (around 9.50$, that's only 7.50€). This is why I import mine from England, because I don't have to pay customs.

But even at 10$ this is still a good price for such a great product.

Price:$9.75 for 100ml/3.38 oz

Quality: Everyone knows about it; most wetshavers have it in their den-and there's a reason for that: it's worth it!

Scent: I really like this scent. If the 'old world' smelled this way, then i want to go back. Crisp, clean, and masculine all at the same time.

Latherability: Just a little dollop and then explosion. Very easy to build a lather- no trouble,no fuss.

Efficacy: Absolutely superb! No need for a a/s balm after this-face is soft as a baby's bottom.

Moisturizing Properties: Here is where this cream shines! Coconut oil, glycerin, and lanolin are all in there. If you have dry skin, your face will thank you. My skin is oily and yet after the shave, my face was clean, smooth, and malleable. Faceturbation baby!

Packaging: Comes inside of a rectangular box-nothing special, but also nothing to get in the way.

It really makes sense to buy the classic products that are spoken well of- this is another of those that is worth the wait(but you shouldn't!).
Seeing as how I have the cream and the soap, all I need now is the splash(hurry up letterk!)

I do believe I will be shaving with this cream for the rest of the week- and this hasn't happened since I received SAO!(a year and a half ago).

The thing I like the most about Musgo Real is the scent. It's really hard to describe, but its great. the only weak point I've ever had with it is it's latherability, but everything else easily makes up for that. Then again, it could easily be an error on my part that keeps it from lathering better. As for the packaging, it holds the cream. What more do you want?

Scent: Absolutely great. Classic, lightly sweet, grassy and herbaceous all in one. It's hard to describe, but it's unmistakable once you've smelt it. A far cry from modern 'ocean blue' or 'sports green' odours. This is a scent your greatgrandfather would approve of.

Latherability: Foolproof. Dollop in the bowl and go. Properly prepared, the cream is thick, dense, and fat. Perhaps even a little better than that of Body Shop or TOBS. A joy to work with, especially in combination with the Musgo scent.

Efficacy: One of the best creams I've tried to date, undoubtedly because of its rich consistency. The shaves are close, without any tugging or irritation, even when doing an against-the-grain pass. Most products allow a problem-free ATG pass in my case, but Musgo Real simply does it a little bit better.

Moisturising Properties: Outstanding. My skin is smooth and soft at the end of the shave, and I think I'd be able to do without balm or aftershave without any ill effects. This is the best aspect of Musgo: most creams do very well in terms of the above properties, but none of them leaves my skin in such pristine condition.

Packaging: I'm not a fan of tubes, give me pots any time. Tubes get dented and they leak. Pots are sturdy. That said, the white design is classy.

Price / Quality: This is where it lets me down a bit, unfortunately. As a European customer, I pay €10,50 for a tube of 100 ml. That's really quite expensive compared to Body Shop (€6,50 / 100 ml) or Taylor (~€7 / 100 ml). Perhaps you get a bit more shaves out of a tube of Musgo because of its slightly better properties overall, but I doubt you'd be able to recuperate the difference in price that way. I'd like to see the price drop to a fairer €8 / 100 ml or so. Summarising: the quality is excellent, the price is not. That said, I'm totally besotted with this cream (and the aftershave) and will very likely replace the tube once I've used this one up.

All in all Musgo is a pretty good cream. It lathers up very easily, however I find that it is a little lacking as far as the slickness is concerned; I find my razor will skip if I'm not careful. I'm not a big fan of the scent, it is a little too soapy smelling for my liking. I do like that it made with high quality ingredients. I probably would not buy another tube right away but it's a good change of pace. (Speick is my preferred "old world" cream, by the way.)

Price: I agree that $10 makes this a pretty good deal as far as high-end shaving goods are concerned. However, if you look at price per ounce (2.5 oz. tube), this is actually about on par with the price of a tub of TOBS.

Quality: About what you should expect from a quality shave product, but it's not the end-all, be-all for me.

Scent: Pleasantly refreshing and lingers for a long time. I don't sense the "fresh cut grass" that others here boast but it's a nice clean masculine scent that everyone should enjoy. The great scent is its best quality.

Latherability: Very slick lather, but not so thick. For me, the experience is a shave that is almost too slick and too cushioning, allowing the blade to glide over the tops of the whiskers instead of getting in close.

Efficacy: Pleasant, but middle of the road - I get better shaves with other products. It's convenient to use brushless while travelling.

Moisturizing properties: The lanolin is a plus or a minus depending on your perspective. Most folks here love the lanolin for its moitsurizing properties and if dry skin is your problem, Musgo can't be beat. However, lanolin is renowned for its pore-clogging abilities and this is probably not a good choice if you have normal to oily skin or are at all prone to acne. The lanolin definitely gums up my brush (requring extra rinsing as others have noted) and also leaves an oily film on my razor.

Packaging: I like old-school metal tubes. My only complaint with this one is that the threading on the cap is a bit "short," making it prone to unscrewing itself during travel.

Overall: I see why people love this cream, but mine won't see frequent use in my rotation as I get better shaves with other products. Definitely try it though -- you may love it.

Well, I read the hype and picked up a tube. My impressions are, well, mixed. Packaging is kind of weak, but it has an old school look I don't mind. The scent at first kind of threw me for a loop. I wasn't sure how to feel about it. My first take was that it had a spearmint gum smell, but it began to grow on me. There is a grassy freshness to it that I enjoy. I only had to use a tiny amount to whip up a bunch of lather so no problem there. The biggest drawback I observed was that I didnt think it was very slick. One quick pass and there was no going back as the razor was jumping around. I normally do 3 passes for almost every cream and soap I've used, but I did around 5 to take care of business with this cream. The moisturizing properties of this cream were decent, but not great. Overall, for a less expensive cream it was good. Personally though I think Proraso green is a better overall cream even though I kinda dig on the Musgo scent a tad more. I like having this cream around, but I wouldn't freak out if I couldn't find it. Now in fairness, I haven't used this cream for weeks and weeks so I will post an udate should my experience change.

I thought this was it. I used less cream than proraso red and it explodes in thick rich creamy slick lather. However I noticed something about it. I have to use multiple passes over the same spot to get close. It could be my razor but I used the same razor with other creams. It is a Mach3. I used to use the turbo but recently downgraded. Will use the turbos again soon before making the switch to a straight razor. But I also noticed that by the 3rd pass, it has broken down its lather quite significantly. I may try to change razors and compare to my proraso but so far it is very good, I definitely like it but not as good as my proraso red and both have lanolin. I think I might have some irritation from it but I also started using the musgo balsam at the same time. As for the scent, it is the epitomy of the scent you smell in a barber shop. It has the same smell they used to shave my sides of the head with (I do that myself these days). I do like the scent, it smells old world and exactly what shaving is all about. Tomorrow will try with a new blade and will give it a few more days in a row (thats how I test anything).
This is a great cream that is also pretty cheap at about $10 per tube. As with other Lafco products, this is premium quality. I enjoy the Musgo scent....some do not, ir is the type of scent that I find has grown on me quickly. This the package claims this can be used brushless but I haven't tried that. Lathering is simple and is very quick and effortless. Because this contains lanolin some may get a slight reaction...personally I do not. I find this cream to be very slick and provides a great surface to shave on. I highly recommend this cream as well as the balsam.

Lately, due to the harsh winter weather, I've been in search of a cream that will not leave my face feeling as if sandpaper has been dragged all over it. This morning, I received my tube of Musgo Real from QED and I have to say that I think I will be using this stuff until the snow thaws!

It lathered as good as any other cream/soap that I have used, and my face feels better today than it has in weeks. This stuff gave me a nice close shave and it didn't leave my skin feeling dry.

The only, and I do mean only, complaint that I have about this stuff is the smell. It is something close to wet grass and is really not enjoyable, IMHO. Luckily, the smell disappears shortly after you rinse it.

I am definitely a convert to Musgo Real!

I finally got a tube of this stuff and I love it. The scent, lather, smoothness- everything about it is superb.
I've started massaging a small amount into my beard while I shower and it really softens the hairs. I also apply a tiny amount with my fingers in between passes (after rinsing and before lathering up my face again). Gives me a close, ouch-free shave (or it helps me... most of my ouches are my own fault).

If you haven't tried this cream, I highly recommend it. Even if it doesn't become your favorite, it's worth having around as an occasional alternative.

Every wet shaver should have a tube of this in their shaving cream cache.

Q: What smells like a freshly mowed lawn on a lazy summer? A: Musgo.

The smell is wonderful and the shaves are sweet and always pleasurable.

The tube is even beautiful and classy.

A little dab will do 'ya and give you nice, peaceful moments of good shave time.

Gotta have it.

Price: I think I paid about $10 for this on classicshaving.com - not the very cheapest out there, but well worth it, because...

Quality: No preservatives. That's good. Lanolin - a nice touch. Very economical, too. An easy 10.

Scent: Definitely old-school, though not as aggressively so as (say) Proraso. Pleasantly refreshing, and won't clash with other products (though I haven't tried it with e.g. lime SF, maybe that would be a bad idea).

Latherability: Whips up a great lather from a little smudge. A great lather to work with - someone said "forgiving" - keep whipping and it will produce a slick lather even if you overwatered it. In other words, hard to mess up.

Efficacy: Superslick lather, cools gently without burning or tingling unpleasantly. Cushions really well, great glide - easy shaves!

Moisturizing properties: I don't really expect a shaving cream to moisturize that much, but this leaves me feeling happy and quite comfortable even before applying ASB.

Packaging: A box with a metal tube in in. I don't normally mind metal tubes, though my current one seems to bend in the wrong places and spit out too much cream on opening it. Probably my fault.

Overall: Other creams deliver good shaves, but none (that I have tried) is as enjoyable to use as Musgo Real, and has delivered such consistently excellent and comfortable BBS shaves.

Tried some Musgo from QED. Have previously used Caswell-Massey Sandalwood soap, MamaBear, Col Conk, Proraso, and Taylor Avocado. Before that - have tried darn near everything in can and several shaving oils [along with my cartridge razors] All of the other products had some aspect that made them less than perfect for me - usually something in them stings my skin, some of them weren't lubricating enough. To be fair, my skin is horribly sensitive and usually a wreck so sometimes just plain air burns my face. This Musgo felt very soothing and calming from first application, several hours later my skin still feels very smooth and calm. No other shaving product has done that for me. Shaving Nirvana!

I adore Musgo Real. I'm very smell-sensitive and I cannot tolerate quite a few of the premium creams that seem to be cologne based. However I truly love the scent of Musgo - smells like an old barber shop to me. It lathers great and a little goes a long way. One of my top three.

I just got this stuff this morning and waited all day to shave till tonight, lather was nice, smell was great, But it didn't seem to lube as well as other creams to get a nice smooth ride with the razor.

Over all a good cream for the money very worth adding to your stack of creams  Also got there body cream with the shaving cream, I used on my face after shaving very nice on my face not dry at all.

Picked up a tube of this stuff in NYC for $9...All I can say is that it may have been the best 9 bucks I've spent on shaving products yet!

Price: 9 dollars for this shaving cream...can't beat that

Quality: Seems somewhat thinner than some of the other creams I have used, but it may just be me. Definitely thinner than Proraso, maybe slightly thinner than stuff from a Taylor tube as well. Regardless, the product itself produces very well.

Scent: Gotta agree with everyone else here. Very "fresh" scent, and does smell somewhat like grass. If you were looking for a good scent the smells of spring, and don't want something floral, this would be a good cream to use.

Latherability: It's up there with the best. The pictures from the other posts show you what kind of lather you can get from this product. It's also got a nice slick feeling to it, so you know as it is being applied that it will treat your face well.

Efficacy: A little goes a long way, ensuring that you get good value for the amount of product you purchase.

Moisturizing: Felt great on the face. I didn't experience any noticeable dragging from the razor, or post shave irritation, so a thumbs to Musgo on this one.

Packaging: Metal tube in a box. Think Proraso from Target. You get the idea.

Overall, a great product. I'll be keeping this in the rotation for sure!
Just had the pleasure to use this fine product for the first time this morning:

Price: Not too bad for a "fine shaving cream"...

Quality: Top notch.

Scent: Unobtrusive. "Green". Clean, nice and refreshing.

Latherability: Other discussions prepared me for non-explosive lather due to the high lanolin content. I was still quite happy with the thick lather I was able to produce on my face.

Efficacy: Absolutely. Smooth gliding, never a feeling of dryness.

Moisturizing Properties: So much so that I over ASB'd because I'm not used to a cream producing so much moisture.

Packaging: Simple, old world elegant without feeling too outdated or too pretentious.

Decided to give this cream a go as i am usually a Proraso fan......I was quite surprised as the Musgo lathered really well and my Fat boy n feather combo seemed to glide across my face......

All in all a great cream....very similar to Proraso regards the packaging. I.E It comes in a tube!!

In my opinion Proraso just edges it because of it's menthol content. In saying that the Musgo smell is not , in my opinion, unpleasent.

Musgo leaves you smelling and feeling great...a nice clean type smell:smile:

I suggest this item should be tried, at least once . And i will most certainly be using it as part of my rotation:tongue:
