Item Description
As a virile Mediterranean man, I have two main concerns with my skin:
Clarins products were firstly recommended by my wife, even though this is far from being her favorite brand, and this moisturizer has been the first Clarins product I tried. This is relatively expensive -about €35- but for the money you can expect quality and efficacy. The notice claims that the gel can be used as an aftershave to sooth the razor burn, but this is not my case. I apply the gel at the very end of my toilette. It has a thin texture, more homogeneous than a liquid but less oily than a balm. As far as I am concerned, I think this is an important point. The only time I was unfaithful to the Shine-Free Gel by trying "Le Trompe Fatigue" (moisturizer from former Jean-Paul Gaultier's man care line "Le Beau Mâle", now replaced by "Monsieur"), the upshot was a calamity: as the texture of the fluid was too rich and hydrating, my skin cannot absorb it completely and it was even more oily! My great satisfaction with the Shine-Free Gel is its efficiency in fighting my horrible forehead shining with a long-lasting mattifying effect. Usually, combining the daily stress and activity at work, my forehead begins to shine quickly. I must admit that if my forehead still shines it has been far less dramatic since I use Shine-Free Gel and it begins to shine later, by the end of the day work – a nice complement is getting for the daytime some hydrosol water to purify the skin as soon as it starts to shine. Shine-Free Gel has no particular scent, which is really not a problem for me as I appreciate the smell of my regular Eau de Toilette. The nice and simple packaging includes a notice with instructions in many languages.
In conclusion, I will recommend this product essentially to men with oily skin and/or shiny forehead concerns. I would like to add that I was never personally disappointed with any Clarins Men skin care I tried – even if I sometimes find a better one (for instance, their Active Face Scrub is great but I do prefer Task Essential one). As I am in the quest of perfection, I am planning to try other products specially dedicated to oily skins (Skeen+ Hydrating Mattifying Fluid and Men-Ü Matt Moisturiser) but I already know that Clarins Men Shine-Free Gel will always make the way
