Hello there,

I know what you mean. I have gotten in DE shaving and injectors for the last several months and I have purchase over twenty razors: 1 40's Gillette butterfly, 2 Gillette small travel razors, 2 Gillette Fatboys, 2 Gillette super slim, 1 Gillette Red Tip, 1 Parker 46 R, and an assortment of Injectors, from the Schick Injector E with Bakelite and Amber handles, the Lady Schick Injector (long handle), a Schick Injector Adjustable, amongst others. Combined I have over 20 and rising.

I love collecting them and I look forward to morning shave experience in anticipation of which razor I will use. As well, there are approximately 5 or 6 new razors I would like to acquire, such as the Traderer Razor, the Muhle Rake, an Edwinn Jagger and the Cobra Classic Injector, I will not even mention the straight razors I would like to collect. Anyways the addiction of collecting shaving accouterments does not dissipate with time, on the contrary I believe it grows stronger, driven by improvements in our technique over time (we become better shavers) and our thirst to find the perfect shave. As I said, so far I have 20 razors and feel like I have not touched the tip of the iceberg, eventually if I keep up at this pace my basement is bound to become a shaving museum.

And before I forget, a good bottle of wine, a dozen roses and the occasional visit to the mother-in-laws house will help in softening the wife's attitude towards your new hobby. Well happy shaving and keep up the good posts.

Sam

Sam,
You state it very well. My only problem is my wife does not drink, the mother in law is no longer with us and if I brought home the flowers it would be so unusual she would think something really is wrong!

I would only add the expanding razor thing for me has to do with design (so many different approaches by the various companies) and an expanding and growing technique applied to the challenge of a new razor type or brand. The razors are wonderful experiments in design and execution of a complicated manufacturing process. I have been at it about 4-5 months and about 20 razors that are all different. Have wet shaved with brush and cream/soap all the 50+ years I have been at it but moved away from DE in the late 70's.

Look forward to the mornings.

10. Date – Who cares? Yellow and white plastic twin-blade disposable. I just keep this in the bathroom to remind me of 25+ wasted years of bloody awful shaves, CONSTANT cleaning between blades with an old toothbrush (between strokes) just to get it to function. Origin-Unknown, but probably extracted from the cleft between the Devil’s own ‘cheeky-bits’, and then introduced to the world of shaving with the sole purpose of being ‘annoying’.

I honestly don't know where to begin counting. I just know it keeps growing! I, too, could not stand to get rid of a perfectly good razor and now look where I'm at. You'll be there too, if you aren't careful!

I only have three varieties...

1. Ball-end Techs (mostly 50's, but a couple of mid-60's, and one English Tech).

2. Blue-Tip Superspeed (one was that my grandfather's, one I just bought on BS&T--thanks Arley--and one on the way).

3. EJ DE89l

I like mild razors.

I have so many I entered them on a spreadsheet so I wouldn't lose track.

 Nothing in life which couldn't be improved with a neat spreadsheet!

I currently have 15.5 razors (one head is looking for a nice home on a handle) but set myself a limit of 18... any more than that one of the least favourite will have to go.

LOL! If I had a "least" favorite I wouldn't have nearly 300 of these things laying around. I love them all!
