Shave of the Day (SOTD) Wednesday November 28, 2012

• Prep: Brush soaking in hot mentholated water, face washed with Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cleanser, luke warm shower
• Razor: 1918 Gillette Old Type 102 Single Ring
• Blade: Feather Hi-Stainless
• Brush: Semogue 820 Boar
• Soap: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus with added Menthol
• AS: British Sterling with....you guessed it, Menthol
• Post: Cold Water Rinse, Double Splash of Aftershave

This will be my last shave with this razor...as it is. It along with a few others are being sent off to be replated in Bright Nickel. This is one of the razors that I love but I never use because it looks bad. Soon it will become a regular part of my rotation.

I was able to get more menthol madness yesterday. While visiting my tobacco shop I asked the owner if he had any menthol, he did not, but he told me to go visit a local Indian market a few blocks away and to ask for it. They had a 15ml 100% Menthol food grade liquid for only $2.99, there was no way I was not going to try it. Wow this stuff is wickedly strong. One drop into a healthy palm full of British Sterling and I I felt like Mr Freeze. I need to figure out how much of this stuff to add to bottle of aftershave.

Third cold water shave today

Shave Prep: Brush soaked in cold water, face & neck washed with warm water for 3 minutes
Pre-Shave: Proraso green tea & oatmeal pre-shave
Razor: Edwin Jagger DE 89 barley chrome
Blade: Gillette 7'O Clock SharpEdge yellow pack from Russia (1st shave)
Brush: Frank shaving finest custom brush
Cream: Biotique Bio Palmyra shaving cream
Lathering On: Face
Post Shave: Cold water rinse, alum block, witch hazel & rose water toner
Aftershave: Nivea aftershave balm

Shaving Outcome: DFS but little to no irritation. Same blade but significant difference in the quality of shave. I'm guessing that the SharpEdge and the open comb #77 don't go along well. Will try the same blade in the #77 for my next shave and see if it a blade quality issue or a blade / razor combination issue.

I had an outstanding BBS shave with the Weber. It has been awhile since I used the Super Max Titanum blade. I am glad that I used it because this blade does not get enough love. Sharp, smooth, & unforgiving.
