What's new

Z-2 Gillette President arrived today

Just received the Gillette President I won on ebay in the mail today. I did think I would ever get my hands on one, especially not for $50 shipped!
Looked pretty cruddy when I bid on it, but knew there was a treasure hidden under the crud.
It cleaned up beautifully as I thought it would using some scrubbing bubbles and a tooth brush. There was only one tiny spot of braising under the head that is hard to spot. I look forward to using it!
Here are some before and after pictures.

Nice...would like to hear how it compares to the 46-47 Aristocrat.

There more than likely won't be much of a detectable difference since the heads are practically identical. But I will report back once I find out.

I was wondering if the President and Diplomat has the same head as the 55 Superspeed which is clearly different from my 40s style and 46-47 and 48-49 Aristocrat.

The difference is small but I prefer the early head.

Well I used the President today loaded with a Shark Super Chrome blades and was not disappointed! It shaves just well as the 46-47 Aristocrat, 48-50 Aristocrat, and the Diplomat. All my favorites, but I more than likely will be using the the most just because I can't take my eyes off of its beautiful rhodium plating!

Thanks for the update!

To explain my differences in the heads for me...

I used a '56 Redtip today which weighs exactly the same as my 46-47 Aristocrat. The heads are different slightly. I got as good a shave from it that I get from the Aristocrat. It was smooth and efficient, but the Aristocrat gets it done with slightly less effort.

Both are great but the Aristocrat is takes the win. Nothing bad to say about the Redtip, it's right up there.

I was wondering if the President changed heads for the year it was made.

My Aristocrat is like the top picture(40s style SS) and my Redtip is like the bottom picture(55 SS). Slight difference that I notice sadly... The guard bar in top pictures comes down at an angle from under the blade. The guard bar in bottom picture comes from under blade and then makes a 90 degree bend.
