🌕🌗 365 shaves in 2022🌓🌕

Friday 30th December, shave #364

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.84 SB, Al Handle, KCG #7
Enhancement: 0.1mm shim
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea 2-in-1 Aftershave

The shim is back in play. Had a good autopilot shave with minimal tidy-up.

I did do some with the .95 wolfman and the shim vs my 1.15 and for sure the 1.15 was better in every way than the shim BUT again I think its a great way to get a idea ! as its not that bad

Thinking of which gap to try is a deterrent to my trying higher-end stuff, as the odds of getting it right first-time would not be great.

On the other hand, the different Wolfman gaps must be a pretty healthy second-hand market...

Notes to today’s shave:

First use of the Swing I acquired yesterday. Quite a blade gap, but hardly any blade feel. Very comfortable and nimble razor. I gave it a bit of extra buffing and polishing yesterday and now it really shines. Excellent combination with this Personna blade on its 5th run.

Also first try if Mitchell’s Wool Fat. That was actually an underwhelming experience at first. I read about lathering challenges and I initially had one too, but that was resolved quickly. Other than that it appeared to perform like any other soap. I was expecting more with all the rave I read in other threads. However, post shave was a really different experience from other soaps. Super slick skin without hardly any need to use aftershave or balm. None of my other soaps have that effect on my skin. And what’s even more bizarre: I am definitely not at BBS levels, but the soap makes my skin feel that way?! So looking forward to tomorrow to see how she behaves with other brushes.

A great shave to end the year. A year is daily shaves, failed GRUMEs, new friendships, experiencing the joys of receiving and giving PIFs, too many razors - but who’s counting, and a wonderfully unfolding new hobby. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. I wish you all a prosperous and healthy 2023 with stellar shaves!

The Swing rocks! :punk:

One of my favorite vintage DE razors!

I've not tried anything Seaforth, but the Lime interests me.
soap is like pizza so many variables and the more sauce less sauce or cheese ratio thickness of crust doneness of crust etc.. ruins it for one and makes it great for the other
and then those folks that love frozen pizza (arko etc..) are happy where they are :)

todays shave kinda confirmed this also for me all are good like going out with friends to get pizza even if its not a fav place you will still enjoy it !
great soap not sure its for me though
one just do not enjoy the scent its not that its bad its just not yummy to me

its got a nice thick dense creamy texture compared to say the Fine A that has that more whipped lighter feel which I notice soaps kinda fall to that one side or the other for general call this the thick or thin crust pizza analogy :) hahahahahaha

for sure this final cut down of my soaps has shown me from that initial cut down getting rid of ones I did not like to this final ones I am comparing now they are more alike than different and its much harder/slower than I thought narrowing down but will be done !

todays shave !
tomorrows going to be my CC Cream again to get that #1 base feel back in my head ! will be interesting !

side note I love Nacet but man the price jumped HUGE I was going to do my blades after my fav soap and narrow down but WOW hope I can get some more cheaper again soon ! but do want to only be buying my top 1 or 2 anyway so oh well !

Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier, nice fragranced soap(Aramis?) with excellent lather qualities. Yaqi commissioned Master soap creations S.A to make their line of soaps and aftershaves.
Brush : Yaqi "casino clubs" 26mm timber wolf synthetic, excellent lather generator, heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.

Whew, made it to #365!

tempImageYp4wlC.jpg

I wish it had been a better shave, but I haven't used the Vector or the Kai Titan Mild blade in a while and apparently forgot how! The results are fine, but I had weepers and even a cut on the chin. Thanks to @Leverspro and everyone else for keeping this going! I doubt I've ever shaved a full 365 times in a single year. Other than that day I shaved twice to make up for a missed day, it was awesome! Happy New Year and a blessed 2023.

Razor: Muhle Rocca R94
Blade: Personna Platinum (23)
Soap: SV Opuntia
Brush: Simpsons Trafalgar T3

Tonight for my final shave of 2022 and SV Saturday I chose Opuntia lathered with the Trafalgar T3, as I have said before, not my favourite brush but tonight lathering the Opuntia it worked out very well using plenty of soap well hydrated. The Rocca/Personna combo proved to be on its last outing, it was a bit rough and left me with one weeper so I binned it but the most I have got out of one of these blades is 26 though the result was a DFS+
