Your "Go To" Razor

So what's the razor(s) you find yourself reaching for most often.

Currently, I these are the razors I reach for all the time.

5/8 Wade and Butcher 1/4 hollow, oblique point rescaled in white bone.

5/8 Thomas Turner 1/4 hollow, oblique point in original black horn.

Red Imp Wedge by Case.

I also have a Lockwood Brothers 5/8 shoulderless 1/4 hollow, oblique point in horn, a Torry 9/16 1/4 hollow, barbers notch in horn and a 9/16 Joseph Rodgers 1/4 hollow, barbers notch with original black plastic scales but they need sharpening.

The belle of the ball seems to be my 6/8, 1/4 hollow Dorko. When she kisses my cheek all other blades pale in comparrison. She is low maintenance and silky smooth. What else can you ask for?

My favorite is a 6/8 "W.S. Brown/Pittsburgh PA//Special", whatever that is! I sold it to someone, they used it once and returned it for refund. Said they didn't have the required dexterity. I thought I might as well try it. It hasn't left home since!

At the moment I've only got two straights at home so it's one or the other.

I've got a Nesset wedge which is my preference of the two. The second is a Silcutta Full Hollow that gives a better shave than the wedge but I really like the feel of the wedge in the hand so that's my go to razor at the moment.

I really love my vintage razors, but my new 8/8 Revisor is the best of the bunch. Very easy to hone, maintain, and shave with. Takes an insanely smooth and sharp edge as well.

I have two at the moment fighting for top position. My Dubl Duck Dwarf honed by Bob Keyes and a generic stainless one marked Eishartung Inox from Martin, and sharpened by Glen. Too bad Martin is sold out...I went to buy another (I like it THAT much!), and the 5/8 is sold out! :mad3:
But I have mine! :001_tt1:

I've been shaving exclusively with my Gold Dollar 208 for the past 3 months to see how the edge holds up. Now that you post this I think it's about time to dust off the W&B, or the Dubl Duck and let them know they are still in the family.

The GD208 has held up exceptionally well. I have only done two touch ups with about five passes on my barber hone in the last three months. I have hit the CrOx maybe 4 times in the same period. Really surprising. And the shaves are as good as I have ever had with my vintage steel.

Some of them are in "restoration" mode at the moment so I can't count them. Some I didn't try yet but I feel they will be good shavers...

A few of my currently active go-to favorites...

13/16 - Wade & Butcher - Sheffield - Horn scales - Restoration by Oz

I have three. Wade and Butcher 7/8 Full Hollow For Barber's Use, Filarmonica Doble Temple #14, Thiers Issard 5/8 Flying Tudor Rose.

Oddly enough, the easiest edge always ends up being the least likely. The Gold Dollar #208. Go figure.
(It goes with the 2 W&B's, 2 Bokers, and 3 other currently shave ready blades.)

It's just like with the kids, who do I love the most?

But, the one that always, always delivers & does it in a fast, comfortable mode, is my Heljestrand MK6, a 6/8 half hollow, wicked blade :001_tt1:
