What's new

Your best find ever from a discount store?

Was at my local Marshalls over the weekend and was perusing the Men's frags. Didn't see anything in particular but I thought it would be an interesting topic. What was the best frag you've found at your local discount store and what did you pay for it?

Probably the best find for me was Gucci Rush from about 7-8 years ago. Paid about $8.00 for it and should of bought another bottle since Rush is going for a pretty decent price nowadays on Ebay. I still have it and use it sparingly. This year it was a bottle of Classic Male Grooming by Fine Scottish Soaps in which I paid $8.00.

Caswell Massey Number Six, Jockey Club and Newport for $8 each and Azzaro PH for $7. All of these were on clearance shelves after Christmas and/or Father's day which is a great time to bargain shop.

Scottish Fine Soaps "Classic" at TJ Maxx, I think it was $8. It's the only fragrance I've purchased there, but I like it. It is, as the name implies, a classic man's fragrance, great for cool weather.

A bottle of Rush for $8 is an amazing deal. I think it deserves its cult status.

Frederick Malle for $40 is amazingly good, too.

Not sure whether this counts as a discount store or not, but at some supposed discount strip shopping center way out of the way perfume store in I want to say Florida I came across a 100 ml bottle of vintage new old stock Aramis Havana that had apparently been sitting for the shelves for I do not know how long, at least a decade. I think this was just after the time this scent was re-released. I think it was $59. A great deal. It was going for north of $100 on EBay at the time and worth it to my mind.

Pecksniff hand soap for $5 for 500 ml at TJ Maxx, I suppose.

Grey Flannel, 1-12, Bowling Green, Z-14, Azarro PH, Quorum all excellent buys at various discount places, of course.

A few years back I picked up a 3.4 oz bottle of B Man from Thierry Mugler at Marshals. One of my favorite scents of all time and also probably one of the cheapest I have picked up.

I check out the fragrance section at discount stores quite a bit - TJ Maxx, Ross. I have found many good values - Azzaro Pour Homme $9 for 1.7 oz, Quorum $15 for 3.3 oz, etc. I think my best find in terms of value (as opposed to % savings off regular store prices) was Oscar de la Renta - Oscar for Men at $16 for a 3.3 oz bottle. Not an expensive cologne at retail prices, but I really like the stuff - citrus (bergamot), black pepper, sandalwood. A blind buy but I liked it enough to buy a second bottle.

I also found a bowl of Scottish Fine Soaps Classic Shaving Soap that was missing the lid that I got for $5. It ain't Tabac but it's not bad.

Hmm, now do you mean best DEAL, or best fragrance? I've got some pretty good deals, but the fragrances were okay. But I also got some GREAT frags that weren't amazing deals.

I guess I'll go with Rive Gauche Pour Homme at Walmart, for $25, vintage big 4.2 oz "shaving foam" tin can. I bought several :001_smile
Found Versace The Dreamer at TJ Maxx for $30, 3.4 oz. Not a stunning deal, but one of the best frags I own, absolutely adore it.

The 8 dollar bottle of Mandarina Duck Black at Marshall's was a great deal, and a good frag, but not the best one I own. Marked down mutiple times :wink2:

I agree with Oscar de la Renta ph. Really nice fragrance for under $20, a steal.
Narciso Rodriguez for him gift set was a really good deal for $30. Not may favorite frag, but I do like it and appreciate the quality and uniqueness of it.

I guess I could add a few more. Not exactly rare finds but solid purchases at great prices.
Azzaro ph
Giorgio for men (fantastic drydown)
Tommy Bahama Martinique (very nice summer frag, really good longevity)
L'eau de Bleu d'Issey (very different, but I like it, uplifting frag that works well in the heat)
Halston Z-14 and a vintage I-12
