I've been using Head Slick for about 2 weeks now, shaving almost every day. Yesterday I got the desire to try a soap. I figure a shave stick is a less-messy avenue towards lather happiness, but it figures that no one around here sells any, not even Barber Depot up in Elmwood Park, NJ. I remembered you guys saying Walgreens carries VDH so I took a drive over. I picked up VDH's Luxury unscented soap and a stick of Brut deodorant since I've no empty containers at home. The Brut's a push-up type which I figured would be easier to work with than the other predominant twist-up deodorant container. It was easy.....just push the Brut out from the bottom, clean the small remaining deodorant left from inside the tube and the "pusher" and voila!...it's VDH time! I melted the VDH in a bowl in the microwave on its lowest (10%) power setting for roughly 21 seconds, then poured it into the empty Brut container and placed it into the fridge. Waited about an hour and it was ready to rock n roll! Seems to be simpler than bowl lathering and I got a better shave than with Head Slick. My cheap Kingsley badger brush even did fine but I may pick up a Semogue 620 to try. Thanks guys for the inspiration and info you so graciously provide. Looks like I'm another shave stick and face lathering convert.
