WTG advice

I have been shaving with my new Dovo Special for a couple weeks now. My total experience with a straight is probably between 35-50 shaves (I had a wedge before). I know this will improve with time, but I have a light beard and feel if my technique is good, I should be able to get a pretty close shave with just 1-2 WTG passes. I know blade angle plays a large role in this, and I try to shave near 30º, but I just don't seem to be getting that close shave yet. Any advice for getting a close shave with just WTG passes would be much appreciated!

To help with the blade angle try to envisage the angle as twice the width of the spine. That brings the blade really flat to the face but I found it made a big difference.

I usually keep the blade as flat as possible but twice the spine is right!

+1 on all that has been said. However do not be too discouraged if you do not get great results. I am also almost 50 shaves in and although WTG has improved significantly on the face, it is nowhere near close on the neck. For that, I need to go XTG. As always YMMV
