WOW! Tried my first triple milled soap.

For the last couple of weeks I've been using AOS Sandalwood Cream and loving it. My entry into the world of wet shaving was paved with crappy Van Der Hagen shave soap and Col Conk Lime, yet somehow I thought I was actually getting viable experience with soaps from these. When I tried AOS Sandalwood I thought "This is it - I must be a cream kinda guy..." But I had just bought a nice Edwin Jagger Soap Bowl and I didn't want to let it go to waste, so I shopped around a bit and settled on the idea of a bar of Jermyn Street Soap from TOBS. I can't believe the difference it made! Gave the soap a try today and while I do miss the smell of the cream, the performance for me blew the AOS Cream right out of the water! Now I can't wait to try more quality soaps...

Your First WOW moment with a soap and now lets see which soap creates that second WOW moment. Congratulations and enjoy the adventure.

There are so many wonderful tripple milled soaps. You should put D.R. Harris on your list to try.

Congratulations on the find! Creams are easier, but soaps are better. For triple mill, I like DR Harris and MWF. My favorite soaps are Mystic Waters and Mike's.

Like you I have been wanting to try soaps myself. I love the smell of creams, but I am diligently working towards a better closer shave with no irritation. I hope my experience is as good as yours.

I tried my first soap after approx 3 months with creams and never looked back. As has already been suggested by James, any of the D.R. Harris tallow soaps are a must IMO, but there are so many excellent brands around. Creams are easier to lather, yet there is something more satisfying about building a lather from a soap. I also feel there is more protection afforded by them. YMMV obviously. Here's to a new beginning for you.

Next on my list is something by D.R. Harris, I'm considering Arlington because I've heard so many good things about the fragrance. Since much of the reason I got into wet shaving is the more luxurious experience, I like the thought of a nice fragrance with my shave. I've heard so much good about the Arlington fragrance that it puts it above MWF, Tabac, or other similar soaps for me.

You might want to try Gerry's sample shop as a way to try many different shave soaps and fragrances that you wish to explore. You could probably find him in the Vendor section on this forum. He sales all the different shave soaps and creams we talk about but in Sample sizes.
