Edit: I meant to say that I don't get why they don't just buy another handle since that's the cheapest part. Guess I my mind was working faster than my fingers

yep - the handles are cheap, they make all their money on expensive cartridges

This is common practice. The main product is cheap and plays the price-leader role, while its complementary good (cartridge) is expensive. Thank God you can switch to straight or safety razors
