Woodsy smell....

Looking for a woodsy, leathery type of smell. Im using JC dirty english now and SWMBO says meh about it on me. People expect me to smell woodsy and "manly" due to my always playing outside. Im just looking for suggestions before i order some samples. I have found some Divine l'hommie(i think) Sage. I have read about it on basenotes and am going to try it for shure. Thank you in advance for all the help gent's:thumbup1:

What about Caron's Yatagan? Check out the reviews and see what you think. I've gone through a couple of samples and I like it a lot.

There is also the elusive B&B cologne from QED. Check the BST--it turns up sometimes.

Thanks guys going to go and check them out now. I have been looking at anything L'Occitane stuff most of the mens stuff seems to have a ceder basenote. Might head down tomorrow and have a sniff and see what SWMBO says.

Im just gonna make a list of ones you may like:

Pens English Fern reminds me of the woods.

Check out Perry Ellis 360... Its definitely got a strong sage smell(reminds me of pine). I get lots of comments with Ellis 360.

Burberry London its very spicy worth getting a sample.

Try a Vetiver...in general very earthy, sophisticated. A classic scent. Guerlain Vetiver is great and its reasonable priced. Floris also makes a good one and of course Creed...but floris is about 100 and creed $150.

Floris Santal
Armani-Mania
Ralph Lauren- Polo double black
Truefit and Hill-Trafalgar

Hermes- Terre de Hermes...Ive heard this smells very earthy. Like orange, pepper and dirt. Lol....but in a good way. Won Basenotes fragrance of the year. Ive never smelled it but may be along the lines of what you are looking for.

Good luck hopefully this helped a little bit.

Thanks for the list! I'll be checking them out here over the next few days. SWMBO says I have to finish what I have before I can get any new stuff:thumbdown Well i guess its time to get stuff behind her back. Thanks for all the input guys:thumbup:

look no further than chanel antaeus. it's woodsy and leathery at the same time.

other: yatagan interests me. i want to buy it blind. i tried gucci ph also but never got around to buying it. it's not bad. more of a woody incense. derby is another that intrigues me. would like to test it if i see it in a store.

Have you ever seen the BST on B&B? :w00t: You might be able to sell the old stuff - especially if she does not like it - in order to finance the new stuff. It is a loophole I have used before.

My wife is a very thoughtful and subtle person. I often have to carefully interpret what she says. If she told me that I had to "finish" what I have, I think what she would mean is that she wants me to get up and "finish" my morning shave and put all my gear away before going to a traditional brick and mortar store or going on line and ordering all of the things I want.

At least that's how I'd play it.

Please let us know which you pick.
I am in the same lot here, also looking for a more "earthy" scent.
I thought I had picked up something decent in the COBigelow Green Elixer, but found CK One to be nearly identical.

I'm loking for some sort of mix with a musky, perhaps tobacco scent including:
sandalwood
cedar
fern
vetiver
sage

Trumpers GFT seemed to be a good one as well.
Thanks to all for the advice.

Anyone know where you can pick up or sample most of these?
Macys perhaps?

i might be going out on a limb here, but declaration by cartier, its good a strong woodsy feeling for it, like chewing on a pencil in class, but with a spicier note,

While I have not tried it, I'm sure someone else has.

DR Harris Marlborough.

On a GFT sample: you can order the sample pack from Trumpers which includes a sample of their creams, body washes, skin food, and colognes. You can ask but I believe they usually throw in their GFT. However, I did not find GFT to be woody at all.

Ted Lapidus- Pour lui.= it has top notes of lavender, bergamot, mint leaves, and orange flower; a heart of muguet, cedarwood, and vanilla, with a base of patchouli, sandalwood, amber, and musks.

Then the new oak at bath and body works smells kinda nice.

Ted lapidus is an unforgettable smell, its sweet woodsy musky and masculine all at the same time, its a clear blueish color and it last for hours upon hours. i have sprayed it in my bathroom at midnight and 9 hours later it smelled the same..the scent last forever.
