Witch Hazel - Is it good as an overall face astringent?

I apply WH via an atomiser and it's great!
However, I only use it after shaving (and apply to shaved areas).

I use low level/Dickinson's as a splash but put Thayer's in an atomizer. I find I achieve a more uniform application of the slightly thicker Thayer's that way.

I've got fairly oily skin, and I like to apply it throughout the day as a nice refresher to strip away the oil. I also made a mix of WH/Tea Tree Oil for use if I start to break out, works wonders :thumbup1:

It's no problem at all for you to use it like that.

I prefer it like this though...

Can you imagine if that was Lilac Vegetal?!

I'm not sure if it is the glycerin in the witch hazel (I have the Thayers original) or the aloe, but I don't really like how it makes the rest of my face feel. So, I only use it sometimes after shaving. Now, Baxters Herbal Mint Toner is very nice (and it contains witch hazel).

I use the cheap Aaron Brand witch hazel from drug stores for a few bucks. 86% witch hazel and 14% alcohol = no gummy face.

oh, and regarding the Lilac Vegetal shower ..

I already got that covered.

I mix it with a little aloe vera gel and a few drops of glycerin and keep a little 3 oz container of it by my sink. I put it on at night after I wash my face. It feels really good.

That sounds good and soothing. I might just try that myself, plus aloe helps absorption of the skin, not sure where i heard it though.
