Witch Hazel Astringent

I like to splash on witch hazel and let my skin dry before I apply any scented aftershave . Does anyone else here do this or am I alone on this?

Your not alone: It goes well on the face after a session with a DE razor loaded with a fresh, hot Astra blade....

Not alone, I use the same procedure, hot rinse, towel off, cold rinse, towel off, apply witch hazel and let dry while I clean up, then apply AS.

you will find a large majority do the cold water splash ----> witch hazel splash ---> finish with balm/splash/moisturizer of choice

I apply some alum, rinse it off and then apply witch hazel, let it dry while I clean up the sink etc before applying after shave. It works like a charm. I have sensitive skin, but using this method, I can shave every day no problems.

After a cold water rinse, alum then rinsing again with cold water and drying I apply witch hazel and let it dry. Then follow that with aftershave.

^^^ This works well for me too. +once the aftershave is dry, I might add a moisturizer or a sun screen.

I've learned to let the witch hazel dry before applying my aftershave. The combination of both sometimes has a nasty scent result.

When you guys refer to Witch Hazel, are you talking about a WH A/S such THIS or are you talking about pure WH w/o alcohol such as THIS?

I do something similar, but I instead of straight witch hazel I mix up a home brew aftershave of

1 oz generic witch hazel
1/2 oz alcohol (rum or vodka)
1/2 oz aloe vera juice
short drizzle of glycerin
several drops of cologne.

I don't measure any of this, and I put it all in small 2oz bottle with a pop up lid. I just made some last night using Trumpers GFT cologne, though I think I used too much. I've also used Tabac EdC, which worked very well.

I do the exact same. The WH is a very mild and makes my skin feel good.
(I use the WH you can pick up at Walmart, Dickenson's. It never burns.)

i tried w/h for the first time this morning and i def noticed a difference in the amount of razor burn i had. i did a wtg, then xtg, then a light atg. with it beeing the second time doing the xth and atg i was getting irritation on my checks where i normally dont get it. the steps i did were: shave, warm rinse, w/h, cool rinse after the w/h dried, a/s, then shave balm after the as dried.

when i did the wh treatment i splashed it on like i would with the as. put a bit into my hand then rub it in. i let it stay a bit heavy on my skin and let it soak. it did wonders my face looks way better than i thought it would have.

for it beeing my second time doing the xtg and atg. it was not the best shave but one of the best. if i run my hand atg, it feels like little pin pricks on my check. im not going to loose hope my wife is loving the atg shaves even if they are not the best shaves.

I just gave WH a shot and I must say I'm disappointed, I was bracing for a burn but nothing.. just a funky smell. But I guess it'll work as a base for some frag oils

I apply the witch from my forehead down to my neck, including under the eyes. It has eliminated blackheads and bags under my eyes, as well as the benefits after shaving. Like many, cold water splash, apply the witch, as it dries down, I clean up my gear and the sink, and then apply my after shave.

How is witch hazel for guys with sensitive skin? I looked at a bottle at Wal-Mart and saw it had something like 12% alcohol, so I set it back on the shelf... Alcohol does not go well with my skin I have found out.
