What's new

winter and AS verses balm

I was wondering, with winter knocking at the door, are you more likely to use a balm instead of a AS? I was thinking that the cold weather and wind drying your face are you more apt to wear a shave balm?

I am more likely to use balms in the cold weather because they don't dry out my face, and I don't need to use any additional moisturizers. I like the "mask" feeling when the wind bites.

I do make the switch from a splash to a balm at some point. Though being here in the southern USA the cold weather is not consistent enough so I may switch back and forth from week to week.

I'm still rocking just the AS up here in Canada. I do usually through a little balm in at some point, but I'm keeping a beard this year I think

I very reluctantly gave up balms earlier this year - they all seemed to give me really horrible ingrowns and spots on my neck. Since ditching them my skin is so much better. AS for me.

No sure I understand the seasonal preferences to be honest.

Cold, gusty winds can dry out the skin more readily than warm, balmy breezes. Also, forced-air heating dries out the air indoors. Both factors are more prevalent in the fall and winter months, rather than the spring and summer, and increase the need for facial moisturizing for some people.
