Why Not?

OK, noob here--- enjoying the DE experience so far--- but today, got overly agressive with blade setting on my Futur---- razor BURN!

Had a bottle of Aloe Gel sitting on the bathroom sink--- thought why not? rinsed with cold water, quick splash of witch hazel, then light pat with towel--- and a coat of the aloe---

contrary to my assumption, it burned !:w00t:

nope, no alcohol at all---:glare:

ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Triethanolamine, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Carbomer 940, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Diazolidiny Urea

Aloe is very good by itself to heal the skin. I know that some folks use this stuff instead of lather and/or Aftershave.

Sounds like you might have been having a reaction to one of the other ingredients in your bottle. I checked out one of them, Diazolidinyl Urea, and found that "(C8H14N4O7) is a preservative. It has a broad spectrum of application, and is effective against bacteria, fungi and yeasts." Also, "Some people have a contact allergy to diazolidinyl urea causing dermatitis. Such people are often also allergic to imidazolidinyl urea."

That's the brand of Aloe I have and use for various purposes, including winter dry skin. Does your witch hazel have any alcohol in it?
