I very much prefer the uber simplicity of the 3 piece design over a 1 piece Twist to Open. There is literally nothing that can go wrong except for damage through dropping, and the threads wearing out over time.
One would have to think from a design standpoint that the longevity of a 3 piece should be vastly longer than that of a razor with many moving parts.
As a Luddite, I too, tend to distrust moving parts. But isn't there also greater risk of parts getting lost, especially over time? I wonder how many fewer vintage 3-piece razors are available today merely because one part went missing in someone attic through the years.I very much prefer the uber simplicity of the 3 piece design over a 1 piece Twist to Open. I love my 3 piece EJ as well. It is easier to clean and I think just looks nicer than the TTOs. I also like taking it apart and making all the pieces shiny...maybe I'm just attracted to shiny things...
