Whipped Dog Brush Day

What a day for BAD! Three brushes all came at the same time from Larry at Whipped Dog. I had ordered the White Firehouse brush about a month ago. I wanted a silvertip with a short loft--22mm knot, 45mm loft. Then last week the Dark Angel of BAD visited me in the night. I leapt up and emailed Larry. "I want, I want a black badger in an orange handle (I am PIF ing one of my two Simpson Special Pure Badgers to a friend.), and hey I want my first synthetic ever, in a black handle. And they all came today. No doubt the silvertip gets the first test drive. Glorioski, if only I could shave three times. And at the back with a green and cherry Firehouse handle, stands Grandaddy Whipped Dog, my first silvertip.

Whippedrific! Dogtastic! Enjoy your brushes, and don't forget to report on the synthetic. I'm tempted to pick one up myself.

Nice Whipped Dog collection. I like that white Firehouse handle. I was tempted to get a white one with no accent color. I too am interested in your thoughts on the synthetic.

I'm definitely curious about the synthetic as well. Jim has spoken very favorably of them.

What's the loft? Is it a lather hog with that density? Flow through?

Larry @ Whipped Dog is a pleasure to do business with. I have a 24mm resin WD Silvertip that was my 2nd brush...still very much in my rotation. His knots are even better once broken in.

The black badger is a 20mm knot, 55mm loft. The synthetic is a 22mm knot, 55mm loft. The silvertip is 22mm and 45mm loft. The silvertip was a dream. I used Tabac cream in my Becker scuttle. The short loft was perfect for me, and I love the heft of the Firehouse handle.

I used the synthetic this morning, Becker scuttle, La Toja cream. The bristles are really soft, they caressed my face. The brush whipped up an incredible lather, the best lather I have ever had! The actual application of lather on my face was not as good, like the bristle wouldn't let go of the lather. I had a great shave, still marvelling at the lather. Do synthetics break in? I am going to take this brush on my 8 day business trip starting next Tuesday--give it a good workout. But I'll also bring along my Simpson Special, just in case...and I have a new Mike's shave stick-Lemongrass and Eucalyptus, so I'll try some face lathering with the synth. For the price, Whipped Dog is the greatest bargain I know of...cheers to Larry Andreasson. :ouch1::ouch1::ouch1:

I used the synthetic again tonight with my new Gillette New LC. I wrote about it here. A different cream tonight and again the lather exploded out of my scuttle. It also released the lather a little more easily tonight. I think I am really going to like my first synthetic. (Actually, all three brushes are great. The black badger is what I wanted, a small badger with a lot of backbone. I will probably try face lathering with it. And the silvertip with the Firehouse handle is tremendous. I really wanted a short loft silvertip, and this is it.) Wow, my shaving cup runneth over.
